Energy Technologies Group,
LLC Unveils Experimental Model
For New Wireless Security and Energy-Saving System
--Uses patent-pending wireless
digital technology and is only system of its kind
--Designed for hotels, but also suited to offices, stores, hospitals,
labs, schools and homes
--Saves up to 40 percent per month in energy costs
ALIQUIPPA,
PA (September 13, 2002) – Energy
Technologies Group, LLC recently unveiled a long-awaited experimental model
of its first-of-a-kind system that
combines in-room security with energy cost reduction. The Webb Law Firm, Downtown Pittsburgh, PA, has helped Energy Technologies Group, LLC,
Aliquippa, PA, to file for patent protection for its innovation.
Wireless digital
technology provides unparalleled
security and energy savings.
Energy Technologies Group, LLC is the only company to use patent-pending wireless digital technology. The
patent-pending Energy Saving Security System provides a new, higher level of
security for hotel or motel guests who leave their rooms and may worry about
potential intruders. At the same time,
it enables hotel/motel management to reduce energy consumption in rooms during
periods when

guests are away.
The
system uses wireless technology with a smart card
and chip card to combine security and energy-savings in one
package. A guest can activate and deactivate the
system with
his room door key, which
he inserts in a card reader located in
the hotel room near the
door.
Data
stored on the door key card are transmitted
in a real time, wireless
manner to the hotel office.
§ When a guest exits his room, he removes the door key from a card reader. This action turns on the security system, which uses an infrared process to detect body heat and physical presence. At the same time, the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit is set back to a “five minutes on, 15 minutes off” cycle. Electrical outlets are also de-activated for additional cost savings.
§
When a guest returns to his room, he inserts the
door key in the card reader and disarms the security system. The HVAC unit returns to its original
settings and electrical outlets resume function.

At
all times, hotel management can determine electronically whether a room is occupied or vacant. Management is alerted if an incorrect card is inserted in a reader
and can send personnel to check any
breach of security. In the case of fire
or catastrophe, they can evacuate rooms quickly.
While
directed to the hotel/motel and lodging industry, the system can be designed for additional commercial
applications including cruise ships, stores, offices, hospitals, schools,
supply facilities and homes.
“We
offer peace of mind for hotel guests and new levels of profitability for the
lodging industry. Cost savings can be as high as 40 percent of monthly energy
bills,” said Jim Biskup, president, Energy Technologies Group, LLC. “For the past two years, the American Hotel
and Lodging Association, of which we are allied members, has been asking us for
our prototypes. They believe our innovations will revolutionize the
industry and we are ready to
do just that.
“We have the ability to change the economy of
the industry as a whole – by providing a complete security system for each
individual room, monitoring each room, and using software to control the HVAC
from the front desk. Our technology
uses state of the art, real time data recorded 24/7 for every room of
property. It’s affordable and provides
a return on investment in less than 24 months.”
Rick Byrne and
Randy Notzen, attorneys and shareholders, The Webb Law Firm, explained it was
important for Energy Technologies Group to protect its new system. Byrne said, “By breaking the paradigms that
room security and energy control are separate functions, the new system offers
a higher level of design integration and cost savings over previous systems.”
Notzen
added, “Because of the elegance of the design integration, intellectual
property protection, especially patent protection of the new system, is
considered important to protect others from copying the design.”
